Hair dye? Tie dye? No. Dye sublimation. It’s our specialty here at Visual Impact, and it’s a type of printing that should be on your radar. Dye sublimation printing delivers high-impact, vibrant colors, and sharp photographs, to enhance branding, advertising, and displays.

What is Dye Sublimation Printing?

Dye sublimation is a digital printing process that uses a solid dye paired with high heat to embed the dye into a substrate. The heat embeds the ink into the fabric, versus a process like screen printing where the dye sits on top of the material.

Benefits of Dye Sublimation Printing

  • Dye sublimation delivers accurate color matching. We perform precise color matching between dye sublimation projects and projects on other substrates. When you’re printing on multiple substrates like polyester, cardstock, or vinyl, you’ll get consistent and true colors. This is especially important for branded colors that need to be spot-on.
  • They are cost-effective. It’s perfect even for small print runs by giving you reusable, quality products. It also costs less to deliver because it’s small in size and lightweight so you can simply roll it up and ship it.
  • It’s environmentally conscious. Many printers, including our new EFI Vutek Fabrivu 340i machine, are developed to reduce consumption and minimize environmental impact by using less water and less energy in the production process.
  • Prints are nearly permanent, not water soluble, and quick to dry. Because the ink is infused into the substrate, it’s more durable and isn’t coming off. After production, the print is ready to go with no wait time.
  • They are versatile. Dye sublimation is suitable for many kinds of prints of any size! From wall murals to exhibit pieces, we can print on a wide array of polyester fabrics to meet any finish need. There are also recyclable and biodegradable eco-friendly choices. We can complete the look with options like custom SEG frames or in-house sewing for large-scale projects.
