Celebrated Minnesota Twins Pitcher Jim Kaat posted some big numbers over his lengthy 23-year Major League Baseball career, recording an amazing 2,461 strikeouts and winning 283 games. On July 16, 2022, following his Hall of Fame induction announcement the previous December, the Twins retired Kaat’s number 36 during a ceremony at Target Field in Minneapolis.

“With Kitty’s storied career on the field as well as his accolades in the broadcast booth and his contributions in the community in mind, the Twins family is proud to bestow our highest honor with the retirement of his jersey,” Twins owner Jim Pohlad said in a statement.
